Ruelaine Stokes & Laura Apol, editors (2023). My secret Lansing. Lansing, MI: Dancing Angel Press.
My Secret Lansing reveals the inner life of a metropolitan region and its inhabitants, showing how the extraordinary and the ordinary mingle in daily life. The book contains poetry and short non-fiction prose pieces about places, people, events, and objects within the Greater Lansing Area in Michigan, providing the reader with a kaleidoscopic view of the human landscape in this region. The book evolved from a project in the spring and summer of 2023, which was titled “My Secret Lansing,” and which included sixteen writing workshops and a writing competition. The contents of the book include some writing submitted for the contest and some writing solicited from other residents and former residents, in addition to photography by local artists.
